Institute of IT and Intelligent Systems celebrates 15th anniversary

A concert was held at UNICS Event Center.

Guests included Bulat Gabdrakhmanov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development of Public Administration, Information Technology, and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan; Airat Khasyanov, Vice President of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences; Dmitry Tayursky, First Vice-Rector of APP; as well as partners, faculty, staff, students, and graduates of IITIS.

The event began with reminiscences. The Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems was opened on March 18, 2011. APP, together with the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Tatarstan, IT Park, and representatives of regional IT companies, joined forces to create an IT department offering the most in-demand disciplines, extensive practical training, and ongoing collaboration with industry. IITIS has established itself by offering a new educational format and grants from the Government of Tatarstan. Thanks to this, for 15 years now, talented youngsters from all over Russia have been able to realize their dreams and enroll in the programs of their choice.

Throughout the evening, a documentary about the founding and development of IITIS was shown. The film told viewers about the very first admission of 38 students, how the number of applicants grew, and how, following the 2014 admission campaign, IITIS’s Applied Informatics major was among the top three most sought-after programs among high-achieving applicants in the country.

In 2015, the Institute had its first graduation. In 2016, it became the absolute leader in average Unified State Exam scores following the APP admission campaign and took first place among federal universities in the Software Engineering program.

The evening of remembrance was continued on stage by Institute Director Mikhail Abramsky, who took the helm in 2019.

Over its 15 years of existence, IITIS has also found many like-minded partners from the IT industry of the Republic of Tatarstan and Russia. Current partners include the Digital Transformation Center of the Republic of Tatarstan, BARS Group, T-Bank, document management systems, Technocracy, ICL Services, SKB Kontur, Yandex.Cloud, SimbirSoft, Sovcombank, Ak Bars Digital Technologies, and other companies. The faculty includes leading specialists from all of these companies, as well as from Sber, OZON, MTS, Astra Group, Tatneft, Gazprombank, Avito, and other large businesses. They also attended IITIS’s anniversary celebration and shared their positive experiences with the program.

Students from 28 countries and 22 regions of Russia are currently studying at ITIS. In 2024, new bachelor’s degree programs were introduced Video Game Development Industry and Digital Analytics and Data Engineering.
