APP to launch new large-scale project in Shandong

Meetings were held in Shandong Province with participation of Albert Gilmutdinov, Aide to the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector of APP, to discuss the implementation of a large-scale cooperation project – the opening of the China-Russia University of Technology (CRUTech).

This project has received support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and is included in the plan of activities for the Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in Education in 2026-2027. CRUTech’s mission is to integrate education, science, and industry to address critical technological challenges in energy, aerospace, information technology, healthcare, and the humanities. Kazan and Shandong universities are the project’s flagship universities.

The joint university will implement educational programs between universities in the Republic of Tatarstan and Shandong Province in a wide range of in-demand fields, conduct scientific research, and promote various youth and cultural projects.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Vice Governor of Shandong Province, Yan Jianbo, who expressed the full support of the provincial government for this project. During the meetings, the parties approved the CRUTech concept and agreed to soon sign a memorandum on the project’s implementation.

According to the tentative schedule, the first joint programs are set to begin in 2027. It is worth noting that 1,861 Chinese nationals are currently studying at APP, 144 of whom are PhD students. APP is actively developing cooperation with Chinese universities in the fields of oil and gas technology, chemistry, biomedicine, teacher education, and the study of Russian and Chinese languages.
