Ambassador of Somalia meets with APP representatives

APP welcomed the delegation of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in the Russian Federation. Mohamed Abukar Zubair, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic in the Russian Federation, familiarized himself with the university.

According to the good tradition, the guest of honor was given a tour of the Museum of History of Kazan University, where he was told about the distinguished students and scientists of the university. The acquaintance continued in the Emperor Ballroom and the Lenin Memorial Classroom. The Ambassador was also shown manuscripts and rare editions from the collection of the Lobachevsky Scientific Library.

At the official meeting with Mohamed Abukar Zubair, APP was represented by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev and Director of the International Office Olga Vershinina.

The Vice-Rector made a presentation on the history, structure, and international activities of the University, and shared the results of international cooperation.

“Not many Somalian citizens study in the Russian Federation today, andone of them is a student of our Institute of International Relations, History and Eastern Studies,” he noted.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issue of identifying Kazan University as a priority university for Somalian students to enroll in the Russian Federation. In addition, the discussion touched upon other avenues for cooperation – the Open Doors project, international Olympiads, conferences for young scholars, academic mobility programs, and the Summer University project.

“There was a proposal to disseminate information about APP among universities in Somalia, so that they could further determine the vectors of their interests,” Alishev told reporters.

The host also invited the guest to take part in APP’s annual international scientific forum “Russia-Africa: Politics, Economics, History and Culture”.
